Have you ever imagine living in a small Island? We are all so accustomed to our busy lives that we think we couldn’t live without all what we are used to and what we are surrounded for, that the simple thought of living differently scares us. Your cell phone, your big screen, your car, train, shops, every other coffee to-go and so on and on. Going to very small towns and remote places during my holiday in Bali got me thinking about all those things we consider "valuable". I usually freak out the moment my phone runs out of battery, I don’t think I am the only one, right? And while away from the rushed life, thinking about it made me feel really silly. Right there my perception of luxury shifted. The silence, the darkness, been able to see the stars at night, free time, enjoying simple things became precious... and priceless.
I felt kind of jealous of how relaxed people are over there, how happy they seem to be, how free they are, without having to worry about things we do, things that may be very irrelevant even. People there may not have all the luxury we are used to, technology, good roads, infrastructure… but I don’t think they are missing anything! Sometimes I wish I could have such a life. Just living by the day, of what nature provides, fresh fruits, the catch of the day…
Don’t take me wrong, I love the city life and all the good things and bad things it has, however, I believe that time to time, we should all reconsider what is truly valuable.
Sorry, I’m kind of philosophical right now haha, the blame is on the transportation problems, I’ve been trapped in a still train for over 2 hours! Hope your weekend started off better!
